Real Vegan Cheese

Real Vegan Cheese (RVC) is a project that began in the Bay Area biohacking communities and expanded to Davis. The goal is to engineer yeast to produce the key proteins that give cheeses their characteristically “cheesy” properties. This solution is both cruelty free and sustainable!

In this project, students learn and apply essential molecular and synthetic biology techniques.
